Last night Sunak ruled out something most of us realised was unlikely, a May election. I think the election will be in September to December of this year, although I am entertaining the thought that the Tories will hold the election in January 2025 in the hope something turns up by then to save them. Overnight it was confirmed that Ayrshire hotelier Donald Trump will take on President Biden in November’s presidential election, the key thing that stood out for me was the result in Georgia, a state critical to the outcome of the last election. I am very dubious about this alleged strategy from Sunak which reminded me of the brilliant film Blazing Saddles and the scene where the black sheriff bluffs and puts a gun to his own head to deal with the racist locals.
