Asking the same leadership questions in both the UK and US

Asking the same leadership questions in both the UK and US

Ipsos-MORI It’s now clear that the leadership questions released on Cameron and Miliband earlier this week were part of a much bigger transatlantic survey involving the Ipsos group of which MORI is its UK arm. I thought it odd at the time that included in the list was “man of faith” – something that didn’t seem right from a UK perspective. The info-graphic above sets out the findings with stronger figures, in the main, for the incumbent in each case….

Ed is doing better than Hague and IDS but is behind Blair and Cameron

The Ipsos-MORI Opposition leader comparison A lot has been said in the past couple of days about leader ratings and I thought this Ipsos-MORI chart was worth putting up, It shows how Ed Miliband is doing against other recent leaders of the opposition at exactly the same stage since they took over the role. The chart is self-explanatory but EdM is a touch behind Cameron at this stage in Dave’s time as opposition leader. Both were miles ahead of IDS…

Clegg’s Ipsos-MORI leadership ratings plummet to a new low

Ipsos-MORI And more polling numbers for EdM to worry about We’ve now got the full details of the September political monitor from Ipsos-MORI. The voting intention numbers are CON 30%(-2): LAB 41%(-1): LDEM 13%(+2). The big interest is on the leadership ratings, as seen in the graphic above, and the continued decline for Nick Clegg. Not only are these the worst ratings on record for the Deputy Prime Minister just 43% of existing party supporters told the firm that they…

Henry G Manson says Labour must try harder on the economy

Can the Two Eds up their game? This week’s PMQs saw a flurry of questions on debt from Ed Miliband. It’s a realisation that George Osborne is in choppy waters politically with the over-arching aims and objectives of his economic plan. It made a change from just looking at the symptoms of the current malaise such as unemployment, although they featured too. Earlier in the week Ed Balls was laying it on thick in the media making overtures to Vince…

If YouGov asked these questions about Boris you can bet that he’d beat Dave, Ed and Nick

If YouGov asked these questions about Boris you can bet that he’d beat Dave, Ed and Nick

We are being even more disillusioned with all three leaders About twice a month YouGov asks its polling panel to rate the three main party leaders on a range of points and a new set is out this morning. The striking feature is that almost all the movement is downwards and in several cases we are seeing new lows. T The first column in the tables below relates to the mid-August positions. David Cameron Ed Miliband Nick Clegg For me…

Ed Miliband could be the only party leader left standing

Ed Miliband could be the only party leader left standing

Both coalition partners might have new leaders With all the talk of a Vince Cable leadership of the Lib Dems and the rumblings within the Tory party could it be that by the general election is the only one of the three main party leaders still to be in post? It’s not that far-fetched because, unlike Labour, both the blues and the yellows have shown themselves to be ruthless with leaders they fear are electoral liabilities. The pressure, of course,…
