Tonight’s news will come as a relief to Team Clinton. My prediction on the back of tonight’s FBI intervention, if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency on Tuesday James Comey will be resigning shortly thereafter, lest she appoints him the US Ambassador to the Islamic State. On longer term betting implications, were Hillary Clinton to win the Presidency, this news makes it less likely that she will face impeachment. But were Trump to win by a small margin, Mrs Clinton might well blame Director Comey for his earlier intervention.
