We need to talk about abolishing the budget
Speaking to somebody who spent several years working at 1 Horse Guards Road and they also advocate abolishing the budget because it is the enemy of good governance and decision making. Their analogy was when new cars registrations used to taek place in August, it utterly distorted things and ensured far too much happened in a few weeks rather than evenly spread throughout the year. I am becoming persuaded by this argument. TSE
Voters back restricting trial by jury (but not for themselves)
A bit like increasing taxes voters are in favour abolishing trial by jury but not for themselves. For the first polling question I expect support for proposals will fall as the opposition grows to this fundamental part of our legal system is upended. TSE
