How serious are the Bain attacks for Romney?
Don’t worry, Republicans. The RNC isn’t for another six weeks. Plenty of time to find a new nominee.

Could they even impact on the nomination?
About six weeks ago David Herson had a post here under the heading “Is it worth taking out Mitt insurance?”. In it he looked at the possibility of Romney not making it and posed the question of whether Romney punters should cash in their winnings.
Since then, of course, Romney has topped the 1144 delegates threshold for the nomination and many traditional bookies have paid out.

But could there still be a twist in this race. Is it conceivable, as the Tweet above from the Guardian’s Richard Adams, alludes that Mitt might not make it?
Certainly he’s taken a battering over his links with Bain and is now plunged into a row over when he actually severed links with the firm that he created.
There’s talk of conflicting statements between testimonies and documents he signed ahead of his 2002 campaign for the governorship of Massachusetts, to make the case that he had links with the state, and what he is saying now.
I can’t see this stopping his nomination but I’m mighty glad that I cashed out in May.
