How’ll Newt cope now he’s in the lead?

Welcome again to the PB overnight thread in the PB NightHawks cafe. Get the coffee on because those who can stay up late are in for an interesting evening and, I suspect, a fair amount of betting activity.

The big event is what looks set to be the most important debate so far in the Republican race to become the party’s White House nominee next year. It’s taking place in Iowa – the state where the first electoral test takes place just three and a bit weeks away. It’s being hosted by one of the big networks, ABC, and is getting a lot of build-up. There should be a live stream here.

The big question is how ex-house speaker, Newt Gingrich will cope now he’s far ahead in the polls and also has moved to favourite in nomination betting in the US.

I’m going to try to get my head down for a couple of hours before the debate starts at 0200 GMT.
