There’s been a dramatic change in tonight’s YouGov daily poll where in the past 24 hours Labour have moved up from a two point lead to a five point lead. Just a week ago the Tories were five points ahead.
The 42% share for the red team is the highest that’s been achieve in any poll since Brown’s general election U-turn on October 2007 and will certainly provide some heart as Ed Miliband prepares to return from paternity leave.
The big question is whether this is just a one-off for tonight or the sign of a big trend.
What we badly need is some other polling to benchmark YouGov against and hopefully we’ll get something next weekend.
The Lib Dems are still down on 10% which is one point above their YouGov low.
