BoJo’s “vaccine bounce” seems to be over but Starmer remains in negative territory

A little bit later than usual we now have the leader approval ratings from the latest Opinium poll and the trend charts for Johnson and Starmer are above. The main feature is that the vaccine bounce that the PM enjoyed is now over and he is back in negative territory. The 2020 Euro final thread

The 2020 Euro final thread

It’s coming home or it’s coming Rome, either way tonight’s result will dominate the news agenda for days (and even longer if England win.) As an England fan for the last four decades England’s last two tournaments have been quite the culture shock, I’m not sure I can cope, it is the hope that kills you. If Gareth Southgate was a party leader his ratings would ensure his party won a landslide

Passed into legislation in 2011 this guarantees that the basic state pension will rise by a minimum of either 2.5%, the rate of inflation or average earnings growth, whichever is largest. What nobody envisaged at that time was that a totally artificial drop year on year in average earnings such as that created by the pandemic would point to, perhaps, an 8% increase in average earnings which according to…

With 11 days until “Freedom Day” Ipsos finds a significant proportion backing permanent controls

New poling by Ipsos MORI for The Economist finds backing for extending certain restrictions to stop the spread of COVID in the short-term while it is still posing a risk, however, there is much less support for these measures to remain in place permanently.  As can be seen a large number want face masks to continue to be compulsory in shops and on public transport after July 19th. 70% want to see this continue for 1 month after 19th July while two…
