The Biden-Trump betting narrows as the Democratic convention, now virtual, opens
This is certain to be the biggest political betting event of all time
Today was due to be the start of the huge gathering in the Wisconsin city of Milwaukee, of Democrats for their convention to formally decide on the nomination and then to launch the campaign which finishes on November 3rd. These generally get wall to wall coverage on the networks and are a great platform to move forward.
Unfortunately this year we have coronavirus which is still at very high levels in many parts of the US so the convention is going to be virtual. The venue had originally been chosen because Wisconsin is an absolute must win state for the Democrats this year having gone to Trump by a narrow margin at WH2016.
Even though there won’t be the razmataz that we are all familiar with this will still get huge coverage with the polling showing a much greater sense of engagement in the election than in previous years – and that is all down to Mr. Trump whether voters like him or loathe him
The betting chart of the Betfair exchange shows how things have started to narrow. On that market alone the total amount of bets matched is now at a staggering £57,899,734 which makes it almost certain that it will be the biggest political event of all time. Betfair only covers a narrow part.
