Big hope for the Tories: Labour’s cack-handed campaigning will alienate 2010 LD switchers and tacticals

This is electorally illiterate

The only chance that LAB has on May 7th is by keeping on board the 2010 LD switchers who’ve moved since last time and winning support of yellow tactical voters in the marginals. Labour’s polling position has been buttressed by the ex-LDs for the past four years.

The good news for the Tories is that the red team in is doing everything it can to alienate this key group with its special election messages aimed solely at those marked as LDs on its database.

Just look at the leaflet above that was personally addressed to me. It represents a sharp attack on liberal values and is completely the wrong message to be putting.

There is only one message to this voting group – only LAB can get rid of the Tories here. What they are doing is naff in the extreme and suggests to me that the LAB campaign has no idea how to make it attractive to voters it desperately needs.

If you want people to switch then don’t insult them.
