Some numbers to dampen LAB spirits

Whenever you get a poll that is out of the ordinary you have to treat the findings with some scepticism and today’s YouGov poll for the Sun is no exception.

In July ICM also had both LAB and CON on 36% a that wasn’t supported by other polling and since then LAB has edged up to a 4% lead.

Today’s poll is in fact totally within the margin of error of other YouGov findings this week. The critical thing is whether this will be sustained.

Whatever there is little doubt that the Tories are doing better and that Labour are doing worse. That’s been the trend from a range of firms though it is important to note that that the blue team has yet to return to the polling level across the board that it was enjoying until Osborne’s March 2012 budget.

The positive thing for the Tories is that UKIP is on a reasonably high level and we can assume that in the coming months that everything possible will be done to put the squeeze on the purples.

For EdM this could not have come at a worse time reinforcing, as it will, doubts about his leadership.
