PB’s Nick Palmer wins the Broxtowe nomination so he can fight to regain the seat lost at GE2010

It was back in 2004, only a few months after PB was launched, that Labour’s Nick Palmer (he’s the man in the suit in the pic) became the first sitting MP to post on the site under his own name.

He’s been posting ever since and has been a regular at PB events.

At the last election I know that a number of PB’s LAB supporters travelled to Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire to help him. In spite of the tide against LAB Nick kept the LAB-CON swing down to just 2.6% and CON Anna Soubry won by just 389 votes.

Broxtowe is a seat that LAB HAS TO WIN BACK at GE2015 if it is to have any chance of being in the next government

Even if Nick was to win then it is still possible that Dave could remain PM.

The big question in recent months was whether LAB would re-select their loser from GE2010. The news is that they have and on behalf of many on the site I say well done Nick.

  • Tonight’s polling: There are at least three polls due; YouGov for the Sunday Times, Opinium for the Observer and, I believe, Survation for another Sunday paper. I’ll be doing a round-up in the morning.
