Why’s there been no budget day announcement?
Does it say anything about the election timing?
Chris A had an interesting point on the previous thread:-
A year ago tomorrow the date for the 2009 budget was announced. It was the last day before the half term recess and gave over two months notice of the date.
This year there has been no announcement and Parliament is now in recess and not back for almost two weeks. Maybe there isn’t going to be a budget this year – well at least not one delivered by Mr Darling – and there can only be one reason for there not being one, and it isn’t a general election in May.
Anyone else think the same?
This is a real poser which was looked at last year in an interesting PB2 piece by Bunnco on the budget and the election date announcement.
In my betting I’ve got long prices on every month but May. Maybe I’ll get a winner after all? Betfair, PaddyPower and Ladbrokes are amongst the bookies with election date markets.
