More polling’s due out on Corbyn’s failure with the most crucial voting group of all – older women
Why Corbyn could be an even bigger loser than the headline figures suggest
A gender problem for Corbyn? Far fewer women tell YouGov that he should lead LAB at GE2020 than men pic.twitter.com/TObsy7ibLU

And the problem is most dramatic with older women – see my piece for @ayeshahazarika 's @ProgressOnline out soon https://t.co/2ObL5dRZqI

Last night I Tweeted the above panel from new YouGov polling. It shows how the new leader is struggling to retain the backing of those who voted for the party in the general election and the gender breakdown
The fact that fewer than half of LAB voters think he should remain till the next election is bad enough but the gender split is potentially more damaging – a point that’s reinforced by the Tweet from leading  pollster Deborah Mattinson.
Older women are a hugely important voting segment. Not only are they much more likely to vote than younger age groups there are, because of greater female life expectancy, Â more older women than older men.
Add onto this the challenge created by the coming boundary changes and individual vote registration and the red team’s chances look even more gloomy.
The only positive thing from their perspective is is that they won’t have to dirty their hands with the inevitable compromises that come with being in power. Maybe that’s what they want.
The Corbynistas are more than ready to use the term “Red Tories” to describe those in their party who oppose them. This is bullshit. The real Red Tories are those whose actions will lead to another Conservative majority and they are, of course the followers of Corbyn and McDonnell.
