The Article 50 Supreme Court hearing will be a live televised BETTING event
In a couple of weeks time all eyes will be on Britain’s Supreme Court when the 11 eleven justices will decide whether to uphold the government’s appeal against the Divisional court decision that the Royal Preoperative cannot be used to trigger Article 50.
Quite what the outcome will be is hard to determine although there’s now a Betfair market on whether the original judgement will be upheld.
Like most other Supreme hearings this will be broadcast live from the court’s own feed and no doubt on the TV news channels.
What will add to the interest is that there is now betting on the court’s outcome which will continue throughout the hearing. So we could see the betting odds move up and down in response to how punters react to the cases being presented by either side.
In the world of sports betting there’s nothing that adds more to the interest of gamblers than an event being broadcast live. The bookies see a big increase in activity.
Somebody will correct me if I am wrong but I cannot recall there ever being betting markets on the outcome of a court case.
At the moment the money’s on the Divisional Court judgement being upheld.
