Survation poll finds strong support for keeping East Coast main line in public sector

The poll gave two options is this form:-
The East Coast Main Line should remain in public ownership, as it is now better run than it was when privatised and is returning profits to the Treasury
The East Coast Main Line should now go back to being privatised like other rail franchises, as it is in need of private investment and will be more efficiently run when privatised
In many ways this is like the recent Royal Mail polling where, by large margins across all parties, there was opposition to selling it off.
When polled on matters like these people always seem to prefer the status quo.
Interestingly the East Coast line serves eastern parts of England – the area where UKIP did best in the May locals.
