In the total absence of any new Eastleigh by-election polling there’s a marked lack of data as we enter the final week of the campaign.
One pointer that might worry the blue team is the outcome of a local by-election for Chelmford BC overnight. In a ward where they’d taken two of the three council seats in 2011 the Tories failed to win allowing the LDs to chalk up their first local gain of 2013. The seat at stake had been held by an independent.
A factor, seen in the figures above, was Ukip which had not put up candidates two years ago.
