Is the Baroness’s future linked to Brown’s weakness?
Take the 9/4 that she’ll have to go
William Hill have just opened a market on whether the troubled attorney-general, Baroness Scotland, will resign or be sacked before the end of the year.
This is not yet available online but you can place the bet over the phone. I was allowed a maximum of £75.
The Baroness, of course, is in a spot of bother after being fined £5,000 for employing a housekeeper who was not legally allowed to work in the UK. That’s not good if your job is as one of the government’s main law officers.
In all of this her future is really linked to Brown’s current political position. If the pressure to act starts to cause him problems then he’s going to have to sack her or ask for her resignation.
The PM should have worked this out this morning – because he has probably set himself up for another U-turn which will make him appear even weaker.
The William Hill price seems great value. Take it quickly before the odds tighten or they withdraw the market.
