Is it worth a 6/1 bet?

Generally leaders hold on even in the most difficult of circumstances. With Labour it is even more complicated because the rules for getting rid of an incumbent make it much harder than with the Tories or LDs.

What we don’t know is how many LAB MPs and whether or not they represent a large number of their colleagues.

It is hard to see a toughly fought leadership election taking place between now and next May. Perhaps the only solution is if they do “a Michael Howard” who by common agreement in 2003 was the only contender when IDS lost a confidence vote.
