Is now the moment to take the 150-1 David Cameron bet?

Is it conceivable that he could be the next cabinet exit?

The hacking saga has moved dramatically overnight with the reports that former News of the World editor and the man who was the Number 10 communications chief from May last year until January, Andy Coulson, could be arrested today.

If that is correct then it brings it very close to David Cameron – who first appointed Coulson while he was opposition leader and then took him to Downing Street on the formation of the coalition government.

The appointments were very much Cameron’s personal decision and if events unfold as predicted then he’s likely to be under massive pressure.

Could the position of the PM himself become the story in the next day or so and shouldn’t we be exploring the betting opportunities?

Before I went to bed I got £25 on with Ladbrokes (the most that the bookie would allow) at 100/1 against David Cameron being the next cabinet minister to leave. That’s now moved in to 33/1.

I’ve also managed to get on the same bet at 150/1 with Stan James. They wouldn’t let me put much on but at those odds the winnings would be quite nice anyway.

I also had a flutter at 12/1 that Cameron would be the first of the three party leaders to leave and 50/1 with Ladbrokes that Philip Hammond will replace him.

Regular followers of PB will know that I love long-shots and quite a few of them have come good. At big odds you don’t need many winners to make a nice profit.
