Bookmaker withdraws from John McCain market

John McCain
We hope that more than a few Politicalbetting.com users managed to get some money on at 14-1 with PaddyPower on the Republican Senator, John McCain, becoming the Vice-Presidential running mate of John Kerry. Only a few hours after our post on Friday evening McCain’s name was deleted from the list of “runners” and now PaddyPower seems to have left the market all together.

This is a real problem with this site. If a good value bet is spotted and we report on it then it usually does not stay for very long.

Meanwhile there’s a good feature on the possiblity of John McCain joining John Kerry in the Observer today. The fact that Bush would almost certainly be defeated if McCain joined the ticket is the strongest point in its favour.

Tradesports – which operates from Ireland for the US market – continues to offer a price of about 5 on “the rest of the field, which would include McCain. If another opportunity to bet on this arises in the UK then we will report it. Sadly prices of 14-1 again seem unlikely.
